We consider that the sources of the modern European culture are rooted in the heritage of the Greek and Latin antiquity. During the project, we want to encourage children and adults to search for the elements of the ancient heritage in our daily lives. We are deeply convinced that such actions have the integrated factor - they will reinforce the bonds between nations that form the European community but also the newcomers from the outside of EU. We will start the search from architecture, painting and sculpture through theatre to end with the queen of all disciplines - mathematics. Thanks to ancient people such disciplines as geography, algebra, logic and geometry has developed. We will also put emphasis on the ancient inventions in the modern Europe.

Ancient Greek and Roman culture through centuries have maintained the classical standards and values, which, after some time, have become the basis for the future references. Thoughts and artistic income of the ancient world is for us the role model, the motives attitudes and human feelings, presented during that era are still current. We are firmly convinced that through long times the ancient culture will be brought by the authors of philosophy, literature and art. Ancient culture is one of the most important treasures for the European culture. It surrounds us and it's present in our lives but not always we are able to identify it. We want to help ourselfs and our students to understand how much we owe to ancient people.

The aims of the project are:

1. The modernization of learning techniques through the use of modern information technology, active teaching methods and approach problem and the multi and interdisciplinary (synthesis of knowledge from different fields).

2. Caring for the improvement of the results of pupils achieving results below average in basic skills (mathematics, science and nature, and the ability to read and write) by the use of more effective and innovative methods of teaching, as a base for further development of our students.

3. Integration of student’s community through pointing at common roots of the European culture above the divisions.

4. Interesting students in acquiring the knowledge through the new approaches of teaching. Activating the student’s community through taking part in different events.

5. Exchanging the experiences between teachers involved in the project. Fighting with stereotypes and prejudice. Shaping the models of tolerance and openness among the members of different cultures, religion and ethnicity.

6. Deepening the knowledge on the Ancient European civilizations.

The project meets the demands of students connected with boosting their passions, creativity and ability to solve the problems. Teachers will have the opportunity to learn new techniques of teaching. We will try to blend the theory with the practice. For the polish group an important aspect would be to aknowledge the work methods and projects related to integration in local communities children from different regions of Europe and from outside of EU. For the rest of participants it will be an opportunity to exchange the experience in that field. Synthesis of knowledge from different fields will also foster the ability of practical application of theoretical knowledge, which is a huge problem for students (diagnosis based on the results of external examinations).

The project is addressed to students aged 10-16. Its international character will give the opportunity to observe the links between European nations above religious and political divisions. Exchanging experiences between students and teachers will maintain the good practice. Thanks to our project we will blend the knowledge from different fields using modern techniques of teaching and new technologies. We hope that our project will bring the effects on changing the ways of teaching, which will be spread everywhere in the world. The whole student’s community will be involved in the project. Around 135 students will be able to participate in the foreign trips. All teachers working in partner schools will be involved in the next steps of the project, which means about 20 people in each country. During the project we will organise: photo exhibition, fashion show, international festival of theatres. We will also create a website of the project and a games. The project will positively contribute to self-awareness, self-reliance and self-confidence of students involved. The project will increase the capacity of empathy, accepting similarities and differences between cultures rooted in the same heritage, deepen the knowledge about their own culture and the other cultures. The project will also develop the cultural identity of participants by realizing the main features of the national heritage. The project has a highlight of the impact due to the combination of the theoretical and practical activities and the connection between entrepreneurship and educational environment.
